According to Asomiya Pratidin, Cachar police, in a joint operation with the Assam Rifles, have successfully seized a significant quantity of narcotics near the Manipur border. The operation, conducted in the Matinagar area, resulted in the arrest of three individuals suspected of drug trafficking.

Additional Superintendent of Police Manas Saikia stated that the authorities recovered approximately 110,000 Yaba tablets and 223 grams of heroin during the raid. The heroin was reportedly concealed within ten soap cases. Officials have estimated the total street value of the confiscated contraband to be approximately 28 crore rupees, with the Yaba tablets accounting for 27 crore and the heroin for 1 crore.

Superintendent of Police Sanjib Saikia led the operation, which was initiated following intelligence reports regarding illicit drug movement in the region. The suspects are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway to determine the origin and intended destination of the narcotics. This seizure is being cited by local authorities as a major success in the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking in the border districts of Assam.
