According to a report from Sambad, the Sub-divisional Information and Public Relations Office in G. Udayagiri, Kandhamal district, is currently facing operational challenges as the upcoming Independence Day approaches. Established in 1980 by the state government to disseminate information and facilitate public awareness, the office has historically served as a vital link between government programs and the local community.

Historically, the office was staffed by five employees and played a central role in organizing major state and national events, including Utkal Divas, Independence Day, and Republic Day. The facility also maintained a public library, providing residents with daily access to newspapers and periodicals.

However, the report indicates that the office has seen a decline in its operational capacity over time as staff positions have remained vacant. The current state of the office, described as being under lock and key, has raised concerns among local residents regarding the accessibility of government information and the maintenance of public services in the region.
