About NoorNews

What NoorNews is

NoorNews is an independent news publisher. Every story we publish is cross-checked against trusted wire sources — outlets like BBC, Al Jazeera, The Guardian, NPR, and DW, plus official government wires for policy announcements — before it goes live, and is given a Truth Score from 0 to 100 showing how well-corroborated it is. The score is shown on every article, not just the ones we're confident about.

We cover world news, the Gulf region (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain), and India across 12 states and languages. Gulf-based Malayali readers and an English global audience are our primary focus.

How the Truth Score works

Every story is checked with AI models that cross-reference it against our trusted source pool and, where relevant, official government wires. The score reflects two separate things: how many independent sources corroborate the story, and whether the story itself shows genuine signs of fabrication (inflammatory framing, fabricated quotes or statistics, anonymous sourcing for a specific claim). Being reported by only one outlet is not, by itself, a red flag — most legitimate regional and local news is single-sourced and never picked up by international wires.

  • 90–100 (Verified): corroborated by 2+ trusted sources, or an official government wire reporting its own country's policy announcement.
  • 70–89 (Reported): a single credible, identifiable source with no red flags — the normal case for ordinary journalism.
  • 40–69 (Unverified): a single source with a genuine, specific concern.
  • 0–39 (Contradicted): directly contradicted by trusted sources, or shows real fabrication patterns.

We also publish a weekly Fact Checks roundup of the lowest-scoring claims we've caught, naming the outlets responsible.

Editorial standards

  • Every claim is attributed to its original source ("According to Xâ€Ļ").
  • We counter false claims, not the individuals or communities behind them.
  • We do not fabricate counter-claims or invent sourcing to fill gaps.
  • Corrections: if a published story turns out to be wrong, contact us (see Contact) and we will review and update or remove it.

Who runs this

NoorNews is an independently operated publisher based in Kuwait. Story selection, fact-checking, and scoring are AI-assisted and run under human editorial oversight — we do not employ a traditional newsroom staff.
