11 Ethiopians arrested in Jazan for attempting to smuggle 220 kg of khat

According to the Saudi Gazette, land patrol units of the Border Guard in the Al-Dayer sector of the Jazan region have apprehended 11 Ethiopian nationals for violating border security regulations. The individuals were taken into custody following an attempt to smuggle 220 kilograms of khat, a narcotic plant, into the Kingdom.

Following the arrests, the Border Guard processed the detainees according to established legal procedures. The suspects, along with the seized contraband, have been transferred to the relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution. This operation is part of ongoing efforts by Saudi security forces to monitor the border regions and prevent the trafficking of illicit substances.

Security authorities in the Kingdom have reiterated their call for public cooperation in maintaining national security. Citizens and residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities related to drug smuggling or trafficking. Reports can be made by calling 911 in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, or 999 in other parts of the Kingdom. Additionally, information can be submitted to the General Directorate of Border Guards or the General Directorate of Narcotics Control via their designated reporting channels.
