According to Vijayavani, a seminar was recently held at Mangalore University to discuss the historical contributions of social reformers Basavanna and Narayana Guru. The event, organized by the Brahmashri Narayana Guru Study Chair in collaboration with the Gramachavadi Brahmashri Narayana Guru Seva Sangha, focused on the reformers' efforts to promote equality and combat caste-based discrimination and social inequality.

Dr. Meenakshi Ramachandra, a professor and thinker, served as the resource person for the event. During her address, she highlighted how both Basavanna and Narayana Guru acted as catalysts for social change, utilizing spiritual and social reform to transform society during periods of deep-seated inequality. The session was presided over by Dr. Jayaraj N., the director of the Brahmashri Narayana Guru Study Chair.

In addition to the academic discussions, the event featured a recognition ceremony for individuals who have made significant contributions to the agricultural sector, including Subraya Pujari Pajir Bhandaramane, Nagamma Pujari Inoli, Ramesh Karkera Boliyaru, Lakshman Pujari Bollekumeru, and Meenakshi Golidapadpu. The organizers also provided financial assistance for the construction of homes for those without shelter. The event concluded with remarks from local community leaders, including Vijeth Pajir and Ravindra Bangera Konaje.
