Civil Defense urges caution amid forecast of thunderstorms across most Saudi regions through Friday

The General Directorate of Civil Defense in Saudi Arabia has issued a formal advisory urging residents to exercise heightened caution as severe weather conditions are expected to persist across the Kingdom through Friday. The warning follows updated forecasts from the National Meteorology Center (NMC), which anticipates a series of thunderstorms affecting multiple regions.

According to the official guidance, citizens and residents are advised to avoid areas prone to flash flooding, including valleys and low-lying regions, and to refrain from swimming in potentially hazardous waters. The public is encouraged to stay in secure locations and remain updated on safety instructions disseminated through official media channels and government social media platforms.

The National Meteorology Center has specifically identified the Makkah region as being at risk for moderate to heavy rainfall, which may be accompanied by hail, dust storms, and flash floods. Affected areas within the region include the holy city of Makkah, Al-Kamil, Al-Jumum, Bahrah, Taif, Maysan, Adham, and Al-Ardiyat, with lighter precipitation expected in Allith and Qunfudhah. Additionally, the regions of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Madinah are under similar alerts as the unstable weather system moves across the country.
