According to the Saudi Gazette, the Ministry of Commerce has significantly ramped up its regulatory oversight, conducting 383,000 inspection visits and processing 443,000 consumer protection reports during the first nine months of 2026. The ministry attributed this increased efficiency to the integration of artificial intelligence in its enforcement operations, which has allowed for more precise targeting of commercial violations.
In addition to routine inspections, the ministry has focused on product safety and market integrity. Through September, officials launched 58 recall campaigns, addressing safety concerns for 222,410 vehicles and over 8,500 other consumer products. The ministry also expanded its risk-based supervision framework, specifically targeting the precious metals and gemstones sector to ensure compliance with national standards.
Efforts to combat commercial concealment remain a high priority for the Saudi government. In collaboration with 13 other government entities, the ministry conducted more than 34,000 inspections aimed at identifying illicit business practices. These efforts resulted in the documentation of 1,066 initial suspected cases of commercial concealment and 77 violations of market regulations. The ministry continues to utilize data-driven strategies to maintain a transparent and competitive commercial environment across the Kingdom.
