According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, a five-story building collapsed in the Satya Niketan area of Delhi on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of at least six individuals. Among the deceased are a student and a laborer, while four other victims have yet to be identified. Authorities report that five additional people sustained serious injuries during the incident, and rescue teams have successfully evacuated 12 others from the debris.

The structure, which reportedly functioned as a hostel, was estimated to be between 40 and 50 years old. Preliminary investigations and witness accounts suggest that water had accumulated in the building's basement, and excavation work was allegedly underway at the time of the collapse. Students residing in the hostel were present in their rooms when the structure gave way.

Police have initiated legal action against the building's owner, identified as Anand Bansal, who resides in Gurugram. An FIR has been registered under sections related to culpable homicide and negligence. Rescue operations continued into the night, during which an additional body was recovered from the site. The incident has drawn attention to building safety standards in the densely populated area near the South Campus of Delhi University.
