High temperatures, dust-stirring winds to affect several parts of Saudi Arabia

According to the Saudi Gazette, the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather advisory for Sunday, warning of high temperatures and dust-stirring winds across several regions of Saudi Arabia. The forecast indicates that residents in the Eastern, Riyadh, and Makkah regions should prepare for elevated temperatures, while gusty winds are expected to impact those areas as well as the Najran region.

The NCM has specifically highlighted concerns regarding horizontal visibility, which is expected to drop to near-zero levels along the coastal road leading to Jazan. Suspended dust is also anticipated to reduce visibility across the western and southwestern parts of the Kingdom. In addition to the dry conditions, the center forecasts the formation of rain-bearing thunderclouds over the southern regions.

Maritime conditions in the Red Sea are also expected to be affected by these weather patterns. Northwesterly to northeasterly winds are forecast for the northern part of the sea at speeds between 10 and 32 km/h, while the central and southern sections will experience southwesterly to northwesterly winds reaching speeds of 20 to 50 km/h. Wave heights are projected to range from 0.5 meters to over 2 meters, prompting caution for those operating in the area. Authorities advise residents and travelers to remain updated on local weather alerts as conditions evolve throughout the day.
