Hot weather, dust and chance of thunderstorms forecast across parts of Saudi Arabia

According to the Saudi Gazette, the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather advisory warning of high temperatures and active winds across several regions of Saudi Arabia. Residents in the Eastern and Riyadh regions are expected to face peak temperatures reaching up to 48°C on Monday. The forecast indicates that Dammam will see highs of 48°C, while Makkah is expected to reach 47°C, and Riyadh and Madinah are both projected to record temperatures of 45°C.

In addition to the extreme heat, the NCM reports that active winds carrying dust and sand are expected to impact a wide swath of the Kingdom, including the Riyadh, Makkah, Madinah, Northern Borders, Al-Jouf, Tabuk, Hail, and Qassim regions. These conditions are likely to reduce visibility and may pose challenges for outdoor activities. Coastal areas stretching from Al-Qunfudhah to Jazan are also expected to experience high humidity levels, further intensifying the impact of the heat.

Conversely, the southwestern regions are expected to experience milder conditions, with Abha and Al-Baha forecast to reach highs of 32°C and 31°C, respectively. Despite the lower temperatures, the NCM has noted that rain-bearing clouds are expected over Abha, Al-Baha, Jazan, and Najran. Authorities continue to monitor the atmospheric conditions and advise the public to take necessary precautions during periods of extreme heat and dust-laden winds.
