Israeli army withdraws from Qalandia refugee camp after raid injures 51 Palestinians

According to the Saudi Gazette, the Israeli military has concluded a nearly two-day operation in the Qalandia refugee camp, located north of occupied East Jerusalem. Palestinian authorities reported that the withdrawal followed an extensive series of raids, property searches, and detentions conducted throughout the area. The Jerusalem Governorate stated that during the operation, Israeli forces demolished several commercial shops situated near the Qalandia checkpoint and implemented a curfew on the neighboring town of Kafr Aqab, effectively sealing off transit routes to Jerusalem.

Medical reports provided by the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) indicate that 51 Palestinians sustained injuries during the course of the military activity. The PRCS detailed that 35 individuals required hospitalization due to injuries sustained from severe beatings, while others received treatment for various injuries, including one person struck by a rubber-coated steel bullet. The organization also noted that several residential and commercial buildings were commandeered by Israeli forces to serve as temporary detention and field interrogation centers.

The situation in the West Bank remains volatile as military operations continue to impact local infrastructure and civilian movement. The demolition of commercial properties and the restriction of access to Jerusalem have drawn criticism from local officials, who describe the measures as part of a broader strategy of containment in the region. As of late Thursday, the Israeli military had withdrawn from the camp, though the long-term impact on the affected businesses and residents remains a point of significant concern for the local community.
