According to a report from Dainik Bhaskar, heavy rainfall triggered by a weather system in the Bay of Bengal has caused widespread disruption across several Indian states. On Wednesday, significant precipitation was recorded across 20 states, with meteorological alerts issued for the next four days for 15 states, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

In Jaipur, Rajasthan, heavy rainfall lasting over four hours led to significant urban infrastructure challenges. Reports indicate that a bus overturned after hitting a water-filled pothole, and the accumulation of water, combined with fallen trees, resulted in severe traffic congestion that persisted for approximately seven hours across major parts of the city.

In the northern state of Uttarakhand, the weather has impacted critical transport routes. A landslide on the Dehradun-Mussoorie road left debris on the highway, causing a 10-kilometer-long traffic jam. Additionally, on NH-707A near Peepaldali in the Tehri district, landslides trapped several vehicles, causing significant delays for travelers. State authorities report that 67 roads across nine districts remain closed due to the inclement weather. Similar disruptions have been reported in Himachal Pradesh, where 204 roads are currently blocked due to rain-related incidents.

Why this score

The report provides specific, localized details regarding weather-related disruptions in India, including traffic issues in Jaipur and landslides in Uttarakhand. While the specific claim of '20 states' receiving rain is a broad meteorological summary, the local incidents are consistent with typical monsoon-season reporting in Indian regional media.
