According to Polimer News, the District Collector of Tiruvannamalai, Vandana Garg, conducted a surprise inspection of the Government Medical College Hospital following reports on social media alleging inadequate treatment for pregnant patients. The inspection was prompted by viral videos that raised concerns regarding the quality of care and facilities available to expectant mothers at the facility.

During the visit, Collector Garg acknowledged the high volume of patients, noting that the hospital handles approximately 40 deliveries per day. She stated that the administration is actively working on measures to address overcrowding and improve infrastructure to ensure that patients receive timely and appropriate medical attention.

In response to the concerns raised, the Dean of the hospital, Edwina Vasantha, issued a stern warning regarding the conduct of staff and hospital personnel. She emphasized that any complaints regarding staff or assistants soliciting bribes from patients or their families would be met with strict, impartial disciplinary action. The hospital administration has indicated that it remains committed to maintaining transparency and improving the standard of care for all patients.
