According to a report by Vartha Bharati, police in Maharashtra have registered an FIR against a former BJP legislator and a dismissed police officer following allegations of gang rape. The case was initiated in the Thane district under the direction of Maharashtra Director General of Police Sadanand Date.

The complainant, a 22-year-old married woman, alleges that she had approached the former legislator, Narendra Pawar, seeking assistance in resolving a domestic dispute with her husband. According to the FIR, Pawar invited the woman to his office in Kalyan on September 13 under the pretext of providing help. She claims she was subsequently taken to a farmhouse in Bapgaon village, located in the Bhiwandi taluka.

The victim alleges that a former police officer identified as Shailesh Patil was present and used a weapon to threaten her. The complaint further states that the woman was forced to consume alcohol before being subjected to sexual assault by both individuals. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the matter following the filing of the complaint at the Padgha police station. As of now, no further official statements have been released by the accused or the police department regarding the status of the investigation.
