According to a report by Asomiya Pratidin, film director and theater personality Himanshu Prasad Das has issued a clarification regarding a police complaint filed against him. The complaint was registered at the Nalbari police station on August 8, 2026, by an organization identified as the Sanatani Bir Hindu Sena.

The organization alleged that comments made by Das regarding the Hindu epics, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana, were offensive and hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community. The controversy gained traction on social media, prompting widespread public discussion and criticism from various quarters.

In a telephonic conversation with Asomiya Pratidin, Das addressed the allegations for the first time. He stated that the controversy stems from a 15-second clip taken from an older interview, which he claims has been edited and taken out of context to misrepresent his views. Das expressed frustration, characterizing the situation as a deliberate campaign of misinformation being spread by certain groups.
