According to a report from Vijayavani, the Congress party in Gangavati has initiated a push to consolidate its local organization following the appointment of a new district president. Former minister M. Mallikarjuna Nagappa has taken charge of the District Congress Committee (DCC), signaling a move to bring long-standing party members back to the forefront of local operations.

Local party leaders noted that the Congress has faced internal fragmentation in the region for several years, contributing to a lack of electoral success in the Gangavati assembly constituency over the past two decades. During a meeting at the residence of former MP H.G. Ramulu, Nagappa emphasized that the party is working to resolve minor internal differences and unify its base. He stated that the primary objective is to strengthen the organization ahead of upcoming local body elections and to prepare for a broader electoral push in 2028.

The reorganization effort aims to re-engage veteran party members who had either become neutral or aligned with other political factions due to internal disputes. By focusing on unity, the local leadership hopes to reclaim the party's historical influence in the district, which had seen a decline following internal power struggles that left many grassroots workers feeling disenfranchised.
