According to reports from Pudhari, members of the Republican Party of India (RPI) have initiated an indefinite hunger strike in Nilanga. The protest is centered on a demand for the local administration to officially allocate land for the construction of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cultural Hall.

Protesters argue that the cultural center is a long-standing necessity for the community, serving as a vital space for social and educational gatherings. The hunger strike is intended to pressure local authorities to expedite the land transfer process, which activists claim has been stalled by bureaucratic delays despite previous assurances.

Local political leaders participating in the demonstration have stated that the hunger strike will continue until a concrete commitment is provided by the government regarding the land allotment. As of now, there has been no official statement from the Nilanga municipal administration regarding the status of the site or the demands raised by the RPI members.
