Passenger ferry carrying 133 people sinks off the coast of Guyana

GEORGETOWN — A passenger ferry carrying at least 133 people has capsized off the coast of Guyana, with rescue teams saving 67 people as they searched to find dozens more still missing at sea.No survivors have been found since Sunday afternoon, when authorities said rescuers had saved 41 men, 11 women, six boys and nine girls.The ferry, MV Barima, departed the capital Georgetown for Port Kaituma shortly after 3 pm on Saturday.Guyana’s coast guard received a distress call at around 11 pm and responded alongside private vessels.Prime Minister Mark Phillips told AFP that the search and rescue operation would continue in the daylight and that he expected the number of rescued people to go up.
