According to a report by TV9 Kannada, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator M.R. Patil has publicly demanded a complete loan waiver for farmers in the Hubballi region. Patil stated that the agricultural community is currently facing severe distress due to ongoing drought conditions and argued that existing government relief measures are insufficient to address the scale of the crisis.

During his address, Patil called for a compensation package of 50,000 rupees per acre to account for crop losses sustained by local farmers. In a gesture intended to highlight his commitment to the cause, the legislator announced that he would donate his own one-year salary to support farmers if the government agrees to implement a full loan waiver.

Patil’s comments reflect growing political pressure on the state administration to provide more robust financial support to the agricultural sector. While the government has previously announced various relief programs, opposition leaders and local representatives continue to argue that these measures do not adequately cover the financial burden currently carried by farmers in the region.
