Royal Decree ratifies charter establishing Digital Cooperation Organisation

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman has issued Royal Decree No. 86/2026, formally ratifying the charter for the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO). The decree marks a significant step in Oman’s commitment to regional and international digital integration, aligning the Sultanate with the organization’s broader goals of fostering digital prosperity and innovation.

The Digital Cooperation Organisation is a global multilateral body dedicated to accelerating the growth of the digital economy. By ratifying the charter, Oman solidifies its participation in initiatives aimed at bridging the digital divide, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and harmonizing digital policies across member states. The move is part of the Sultanate’s ongoing efforts under Oman Vision 2040 to diversify the economy and embrace technological advancement.

This ratification follows a series of regional efforts to standardize digital frameworks and enhance cooperation in cybersecurity, data governance, and e-commerce. As a member of the DCO, Oman is expected to play a more active role in shaping the digital landscape of the Gulf region and beyond, facilitating knowledge exchange and collaborative investment in emerging technologies.
