According to a report by Asianet News, a goods auto-rickshaw parked on the roadside in Thamarassery, Kozhikode, was stolen by unidentified individuals who utilized a crane to remove the vehicle. The owner of the auto-rickshaw, which was primarily used for fruit vending, discovered the theft and initiated an investigation with the assistance of local CCTV footage.

Following the review of the surveillance recordings, the owner was able to track down the suspects and locate the stolen vehicle. The report indicates that the auto-rickshaw had been sold by the perpetrators for 10,000 rupees. Upon recovering the vehicle, the owner handed the suspects and the auto-rickshaw over to the local police for further legal action.

Incidents of vehicle theft involving heavy machinery like cranes are relatively uncommon, drawing local attention to the brazen nature of the crime. The police are currently processing the evidence provided by the owner to formalize the charges against those involved in the theft and the subsequent illegal sale of the property.
