Russia, Ukraine trade massive drone attacks as civilians killed and oil sites hit

According to the Saudi Gazette, Russia and Ukraine engaged in a significant exchange of drone strikes overnight, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to critical energy infrastructure. The escalation comes as Moscow continues to intensify its aerial campaign against Ukrainian territory ahead of the winter season, while Kyiv maintains its strategy of targeting Russian industrial and oil-processing facilities.

In the Russian region of Tatarstan, officials reported that a drone strike in Nizhnekamsk resulted in the deaths of two civilians. According to the office of regional head Rustam Minnikhanov, the victims were struck by debris near their vehicle. Nizhnekamsk is a major industrial hub, hosting significant oil refineries and petrochemical plants. Mayor Radmir Belyaev confirmed that a fire broke out at one of the city's enterprises, though specific details regarding the extent of the damage remain limited.

Simultaneously, Ukrainian Defense Intelligence reported a successful operation against an oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, located in Russia's Krasnodar region. Kyiv stated that the strike targeted a key oil-processing unit and a tank farm, which reportedly triggered a large-scale fire. Local Krasnodar authorities have acknowledged the incident, which marks another development in the ongoing efforts by Ukrainian forces to disrupt Russian energy logistics and supply chains.
