Thunderstorms, flash flood risk forecast across parts of Kingdom as temperatures hit 47°C

According to the Saudi Gazette, the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather advisory for the Kingdom, warning of thunderstorms and potential flash flooding in specific regions. While parts of the country are bracing for precipitation, extreme heat remains a significant concern, with temperatures expected to peak at 47°C in several areas.

The forecast indicates that major cities will experience intense heat, with Riyadh and Dammam reaching highs of 46°C. Other urban centers, including Makkah and Madinah, are expected to see temperatures climb to 42°C and 43°C respectively. Meanwhile, the NCM has highlighted that thunderstorms, accompanied by hail, are likely to impact the Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah regions.

In addition to the heat and rain, the NCM warned of active winds that are expected to stir up dust and sand across several provinces, including the Northern Borders and Al-Qassim. These conditions are also anticipated along the coastal road leading to Jazan. Residents in the affected areas are advised to remain cautious and follow official updates from the National Center for Meteorology as weather conditions evolve throughout the weekend.
