The state has seen a significant rise in cases this year, with health officials reporting nearly 16,000 infections and nine fatalities to date. With an average of over 100 new cases identified daily, the surge has placed considerable pressure on the healthcare infrastructure.

Public complaints allege that certain private medical facilities are exploiting the crisis by charging exorbitant fees for dengue care. Reports indicate that treatment costs are ranging from 22,000 to 75,000 rupees for standard care, with costs for patients admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICU) allegedly reaching as high as 200,000 rupees. These figures have drawn sharp criticism from the public and the state health department.

In response to these allegations, the health department has announced that it will take strict action against any private hospitals found to be engaging in predatory pricing. Officials have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any instances of overcharging.
