US says Houthis must bear consequences of their aggression

The United States Embassy in Yemen has issued a firm statement asserting that Houthi forces must face the consequences of their ongoing aggression in the region. According to the Saudi Gazette, the embassy emphasized that the Houthis are responsible for initiating the current conflict and affirmed the right of both the internationally recognized Yemeni government and Saudi Arabia to take necessary measures to defend their territory and citizens.

The embassy’s statement reiterated that the Republic of Yemen remains the sole legitimate governing authority. It further stated that this government holds the right to protect its people and work toward neutralizing the Houthis' capacity to launch further attacks. The US position underscores a continued commitment to supporting regional partners in their efforts to counter Houthi-led violence.

In a related development, the European Union has issued a formal condemnation of recent attacks targeting civilian and economic infrastructure in southern Saudi Arabia. The EU reported that these strikes resulted in injuries to 73 civilians, including women and children. Expressing full solidarity with Riyadh, the bloc characterized the targeting of non-combatant infrastructure as a dangerous escalation that stands in clear violation of international norms. The international community continues to monitor the situation as tensions along the Red Sea coast remain high.
