According to a report by Vijayavani, Dr. Shivaprasad Gollahalli, President of the Karnataka Janapada Academy, recently emphasized the importance of preserving folk traditions during a cultural event in Mandya. Speaking at the 'Janapada Sambhrama' ceremony held at Gandhi Bhavan, Gollahalli described folk art as the identity of the land and a symbol of human labor.

During his address, Gollahalli highlighted that folk traditions contain scientific messages about how life should be lived, reflecting the cultural diversity and resilience of rural communities. He expressed concern that modern influences and capitalist pressures are causing traditional rural arts to fade, urging for a collective effort to protect and integrate these practices into daily life to ensure their survival.

The event, organized by the Parivartana Rural and Urban Development Institute in collaboration with the Department of Kannada and Culture, served as a platform to discuss the socio-economic challenges faced by folk artists. Gollahalli noted that despite various hardships, these art forms have remained deeply rooted in society, and he called for renewed focus on reviving them to maintain the cultural heritage of the region.
