Zelensky claims significant battlefield gains as he pleads for more US Patriot missiles

According to the Saudi Gazette, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukrainian forces have recaptured approximately 745 square kilometers of territory in the southeastern Oleksandrivka sector since the beginning of the year. The operation, which reportedly began in January, has resulted in 26 settlements returning to Ukrainian control across the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. President Zelensky described the offensive as a precise, planned maneuver while simultaneously calling on the United States to expedite the delivery of Patriot missile systems to bolster Ukraine's air defenses against increasing ballistic missile attacks.

In addition to the reported territorial gains, President Zelensky stated on Telegram that Ukrainian forces conducted an overnight strike against Russia’s Novorossiysk naval base. The attack reportedly involved a combination of drones, missiles, and unmanned surface vessels. Veniamin Kondratyev, the governor of the Krasnodar region, confirmed that the area was targeted by a significant wave of Ukrainian attacks. Local Russian officials reported that the strikes resulted in at least two fatalities, including an eight-year-old child.

The situation remains fluid as both sides continue to engage in high-intensity combat operations. The request for additional Patriot missile batteries highlights the ongoing pressure on Ukraine's defensive capabilities as the conflict enters a new phase.
