3rd National Lok Adalat settles over 2.10 crore cases, resolves disputes worth Rs 13,589 crore

According to reports from Prameya, the 3rd National Lok Adalat held across India has successfully settled over 2.10 crore cases. The initiative, aimed at reducing the burden on the formal judicial system, resulted in the resolution of disputes valued at approximately Rs 13,589 crore.

National Lok Adalats are organized periodically by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) to provide a platform for the amicable settlement of pending and pre-litigation cases. These sessions cover a wide spectrum of disputes, including civil matters, matrimonial issues, and motor accident claims, allowing parties to reach a compromise outside of traditional courtroom litigation.

The high volume of cases resolved highlights the continued reliance on these alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to clear backlogs within the Indian legal system. By facilitating settlements through mediation and conciliation, the Lok Adalat process aims to provide faster and more cost-effective justice for citizens across the country.
