AAPSU demands suspension of SIR in Chakma-Hajong areas after Bordumsa violence

According to The Assam Tribune, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) has formally demanded the suspension of the Special Investigation Report (SIR) in areas inhabited by the Chakma and Hajong communities. This demand follows recent outbreaks of violence in the Bordumsa region, which have heightened tensions between local indigenous groups and the resident communities.

The student body convened a meeting on September 12 to address the escalating situation in Bordumsa. During the session, representatives discussed the impact of the ongoing violence and deliberated on the next steps for indigenous organizations seeking to address their grievances regarding the regional demographic and administrative status.

The AAPSU has positioned this demand as a necessary measure to restore order and address concerns regarding the current administrative handling of the region.
