After weeks of silence, schools come alive again on Tuesday

According to the Saudi Gazette, schools across Saudi Arabia are preparing for the resumption of the academic year following the summer break that began on June 25. Administrators and supervisors are scheduled to return to their duties this Tuesday to oversee the final preparations for the upcoming term.

Under the announced schedule, teaching staff are set to return to their respective schools on Sunday, August 16, followed by the return of students to classrooms on Sunday, August 23. The Ministry of Education has implemented a specific adjustment for the education departments in Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and Taif. In these four regions, teachers will report for duty on August 23, with the official start of classes for students delayed until August 30.

The academic year will include a structured series of breaks designed to support the student calendar. These include two days for National Day celebrations, as well as nine-day intervals for both the fall and mid-year vacations. Additionally, the calendar accounts for two days dedicated to Founding Day, alongside 16-day periods for the Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha holidays. This schedule reflects the ongoing efforts by Saudi educational authorities to balance instructional time with seasonal breaks for the student population.
