Border Guards seize 80.6 kg of khat, 31,500 tablets in Asir, Jazan operations

According to the Saudi Gazette, Saudi Border Guard patrols have successfully executed a series of anti-drug operations in the southern regions of Asir and Jazan, resulting in multiple arrests and the seizure of significant quantities of contraband. The operations targeted smuggling attempts involving both khat and restricted medical tablets.

In the Al-Rabwah sector of Asir, authorities apprehended a Saudi citizen attempting to smuggle 600 grams of khat. Simultaneously, in the Al-Dair sector of Jazan, security forces arrested an Ethiopian national for the attempted smuggling of 80 kilograms of khat. A separate operation in the same Jazan sector led to the interception of 31,500 tablets, which are subject to strict medical circulation regulations within the Kingdom.

Authorities confirmed that initial legal procedures have been completed for all suspects involved in these cases. The individuals, along with the confiscated substances, have been handed over to the competent authorities for further investigation and prosecution. These operations are part of ongoing efforts by the Saudi Border Guards to secure the Kingdom's borders and curb the illicit trafficking of narcotics and restricted goods.
