Buraidah International Dates Carnival opens with 75-day season

According to the Saudi Gazette, the Buraidah International Dates Carnival has officially opened its doors for a 75-day season. Located near the Palm Center in the Qassim region, the event serves as a central hub for farmers, traders, and international importers to engage in the Kingdom's robust dates industry. The carnival is scheduled to run until October 14.

The event is held under the patronage of the Emir of Qassim, Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal, and is organized by the National Center for Palms and Dates. The carnival is recognized as one of the largest markets of its kind globally and holds a listing in the Guinness World Records, underscoring its significance as a primary economic platform for the region.

Qassim remains a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia's agricultural sector, boasting approximately 11 million palm trees and an annual production estimated at 578,000 tons of dates. The industry is a vital economic driver, generating roughly SR3.2 billion in annual returns and supporting over 4,000 direct and indirect jobs. Beyond its commercial impact, the carnival serves as a cultural and tourism landmark, drawing visitors from across the region to celebrate the harvest season.
