GCC Condemns Houthi Missile Launches Toward Saudi Cities of Taif, Yanbu

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has issued a formal statement condemning the launch of ballistic missiles by the Houthi group toward the Saudi Arabian cities of Taif and Yanbu. In the statement released by the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Albudaiwi described the actions as a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability.

The GCC leadership emphasized that such attacks represent a clear violation of international law and norms, specifically targeting civilian infrastructure and populated areas within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Secretary-General reiterated the Council's firm stance in support of Saudi Arabia, affirming the right of the Kingdom to take all necessary measures to protect its territory and citizens from external threats.

This incident marks a continuation of regional tensions involving the Houthi movement, which has frequently targeted Saudi Arabian cities with drone and missile strikes throughout the ongoing conflict.
