According to TV9 Gujarati, health authorities in the Indian state of Gujarat are currently managing an outbreak of the Chandipura virus, which has prompted significant concern across the region. Officials report that there have been 39 confirmed positive cases identified to date, with 23 fatalities attributed to the viral infection.

In addition to the confirmed cases, health departments are monitoring a total of 217 suspected cases. Medical teams are currently awaiting laboratory results for nine of these individuals, whose reports remain pending. The Chandipura virus is a rare but serious pathogen, typically transmitted by vectors such as sandflies, and it is known to cause acute encephalitis, particularly in children.

Local health officials have initiated containment and surveillance protocols to mitigate further spread of the virus. The state government is expected to continue monitoring high-risk areas and providing updates as diagnostic testing progresses. Residents are being advised to maintain hygiene and report symptoms of high fever or neurological distress to local medical facilities immediately.
