Heavy thunderstorms, flash flood risk forecast across parts of Saudi Arabia

According to the Saudi Gazette, the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather advisory warning of moderate to heavy thunderstorms across several regions in Saudi Arabia this Sunday. The forecast indicates that the weather systems are expected to impact Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha, as well as the mountainous highlands of the Makkah and Madinah provinces.

Meteorologists expect the storms to be accompanied by hail and active winds capable of stirring up significant dust and sand. Additionally, the NCM has warned of potential fog formation in the highlands of these regions, as well as in parts of Najran and the southern areas of the Eastern Province. Residents in Jeddah and Najran should also prepare for thunderclouds, active winds, and blowing dust, with fog expected to affect visibility in Jeddah.

While the southern and western regions face unsettled conditions, the NCM reports that weather in Riyadh, Tabuk, Arar, and Sakaka is expected to remain stable. Meanwhile, Buraidah and Hail are forecast to experience clear to partly cloudy skies. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution in areas prone to flash flooding and to monitor official NCM channels for real-time updates as the weather systems progress.
