IGP Kashmir reviews security, counter-terror operations in Pulwama and Awantipora

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar, conducted a comprehensive security and operational review in the Pulwama and Awantipora districts on September 6. The visit was aimed at assessing the current security landscape, the effectiveness of ongoing counter-terror operations, and the status of crime disposal within these jurisdictions. IGP Kumar was accompanied by the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the South Kashmir Range, Javed Iqbal Mattoo.

During the high-level meetings, the IGP received detailed briefings from Senior Superintendents of Police, Additional SPs, and other senior officers, including representatives from the Special Operations Group. The discussions focused on operational readiness, local crime trends, and the strategic deployment of security forces to maintain law and order. These reviews are part of the routine administrative oversight conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensure coordination across various districts.

Such security reviews are a regular feature of the police administration in the region, particularly in areas that have historically seen heightened counter-insurgency activity.
