Jameel Altheyabi: Media and security sectors are essential partners in protecting society and strengthening stability

Jameel Altheyabi, editor-in-chief of Okaz and supervisor general of Saudi Gazette, has called for a strengthened, institutional partnership between the media and security sectors. Speaking at the Security and History Dialogue 2026 conference in Riyadh on Tuesday, Altheyabi emphasized that both sectors play a critical role in safeguarding society and maintaining national stability.

According to Altheyabi, the rapid evolution of digital platforms and the proliferation of social media have significantly altered the information landscape. While these tools have accelerated the speed at which news is disseminated, they have also introduced complex challenges regarding public awareness and the verification of information. He argued that a collaborative approach, built on mutual trust and effective communication, is essential to navigate these modern challenges.
