Jeddah seizes 3,699 counterfeit branded items in crackdown

According to the Saudi Gazette, Jeddah Municipality officials have successfully concluded two major inspection campaigns targeting the production and sale of counterfeit goods. Authorities seized a total of 3,699 items bearing unauthorized sports club logos and commercial trademarks during operations conducted in the southern and central districts of the city. Yasser Bakhsh, the director general of monitoring and addressing negative phenomena, confirmed that all confiscated counterfeit apparel has been destroyed to prevent further circulation in the marketplace.

During a coordinated sweep in the Al Jamiah municipality district, inspectors discovered a residential property being utilized as an illicit manufacturing hub. Inside, officials found two rooms equipped with industrial machinery dedicated to sewing, embroidery, and printing fake trademarks onto clothing. The operation resulted in the seizure of 1,029 counterfeit items and eight pieces of specialized equipment, including printing and cutting machines. In a related effort to support community welfare, 850 unbranded clothing items recovered during the inspections were donated to the Estidamah Food Preservation organization.

These enforcement actions are part of a broader municipal effort to regulate commercial activities and protect intellectual property rights within the city. The individuals involved in the illegal operations have been referred to the relevant legal authorities to face further proceedings. Jeddah Municipality officials have indicated that monitoring campaigns will continue across the city to ensure compliance with commercial regulations and to address negative phenomena that impact the local economy and consumer safety.
