Kalaburagi | ಬಾಲಕಿಯ ಅತ್ಯಾಚಾರ ಪ್ರಕರಣ: ಆರೋಪಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕನಿಗೆ 25 ವರ್ಷ ಜೈಲು

A special POCSO court in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, has sentenced a private school teacher to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment following his conviction in a case involving the sexual assault of a minor. The court also imposed a fine of one lakh rupees on the accused, identified as 45-year-old Hajimalang Ganiyara, who served as both a teacher and school secretary in Yadrami town.

Presiding over the case, Judge S.L. Chauhan of the FTSC-1 special POCSO court delivered the verdict after reviewing evidence presented by the prosecution. The court found the accused guilty under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, sentencing him to 25 years of imprisonment and a 50,000 rupee fine. An additional five-year sentence and a 50,000 rupee fine were imposed under Section 10 of the same act.

The court further ordered that failure to pay the fines would result in an additional six months of simple imprisonment for each count. This ruling underscores the ongoing judicial efforts in the region to address crimes against minors through the special provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
