According to Polimer News, a 19-year-old student named Amudhan, originally from the Kallakurichi district, has died following an alleged altercation with fellow students in Coimbatore. Amudhan was a student at the Hindustan College of Engineering, located in the Premier Mills area, where he reportedly resided in off-campus housing with peers.

Reports indicate that a dispute broke out between the victim and his classmates on the night of August 11, 2026. During the confrontation, Amudhan was allegedly assaulted and subsequently experienced severe respiratory distress. Although his friends attempted to transport him to a nearby private hospital via motorcycle, he was pronounced dead while in transit.

The Chettipalayam police have registered a case and are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. Authorities are examining potential motives, including disputes over personal property or substance-related issues, as they work to determine the exact cause of the altercation and identify those responsible. The incident has caused significant distress among the student body and the victim's family, who are calling for a thorough inquiry into the events leading to the fatal encounter.
