According to Vijayavani, Prashanth Hadlugadde, the General Secretary of the Janapada Parishad, recently addressed the Kumbara community during the 'Aatidonji Kulal Gammat' event held in Kalasa. During his speech, Hadlugadde emphasized the need for the Kumbara community to strengthen its organizational unity and actively participate in the social mainstream to overcome historical marginalization.

He highlighted the challenges faced by traditional potters due to the rise of plastic and metal alternatives, which have significantly reduced the demand for earthen vessels. Hadlugadde advocated for a return to using clay pots, citing their health benefits and scientific relevance, and urged community members to lead by example by incorporating these items into their own households. He further noted that the Kumbara community holds a historical significance in human civilization for their role in shaping materials into functional and artistic forms.

The event also served as a platform to celebrate traditional cultural practices, including the preparation of special seasonal dishes associated with the Aati month, such as various chutneys, vegetable preparations, and traditional snacks. The gathering aimed to foster a sense of identity and collective progress among the community members residing in the taluk and district.
