NCM forecasts heavy rain across four Saudi regions through Sunday

The Saudi National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a formal weather advisory forecasting heavy rainfall across four regions of the Kingdom, effective from Wednesday through Sunday. The meteorological agency warns that the weather system is expected to bring varying levels of intensity, potentially impacting daily life and travel across multiple provinces.

According to the NCM, the incoming weather front is likely to be accompanied by strong downdraft winds reaching speeds of 60 km/h or more. Authorities have cautioned residents to prepare for near-zero horizontal visibility, hail, and the risk of flash floods in low-lying areas. Coastal regions have been specifically warned of high waves, with the NCM also noting the potential for tornadoes or waterspouts in localized areas.

The forecast identifies several specific areas of concern. In the Jazan region, moderate to heavy rain is expected in Harub, Al-Rayth, Al-Dayer, Al-Eidabi, Fayfa, and surrounding areas including Sabya and Samtah. The Asir region, including Abha, Khamis Mushait, and Rijal Almaa, is also under alert. Additionally, the Al-Baha region, covering areas such as Baljurashi, Al-Mandaq, and Qilwah, is expected to experience significant precipitation. Residents are advised to monitor official NCM channels for real-time updates and to follow safety instructions issued by local civil defense authorities during the duration of the weather event.
