Prince Badr: UNESCO forum reinforces Saudi Arabia’s global leadership in ethical AI

According to the Saudi Gazette, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah, has announced that the Kingdom will host the fourth edition of the UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (GFEAI) in Riyadh. The event is scheduled to take place from September 14 to 17, 2026. This forum is intended to serve as a platform for international dialogue regarding the responsible development and deployment of emerging technologies.

The forum is being organized through a partnership between the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) and the International Centre for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), in collaboration with UNESCO. Officials stated that the event will coincide with the Kingdom's designated 'Year of Artificial Intelligence' and will be held alongside the Global AI Summit 2026.

Prince Badr emphasized that hosting this forum underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to ethical AI standards that prioritize human welfare and sustainable development. The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Kingdom to establish itself as a central hub for global discussions on digital governance and technological ethics.
