Royal Order transforms charity platform 'Ehsan' into independent non-profit foundation

According to the Saudi Gazette, a Royal Order has been issued to transition the National Platform for Charitable Work, known as Ehsan, into an independent, non-profit organization. Now officially titled the Ehsan Foundation for Charitable Work, the entity will continue its mission to streamline and enhance the efficiency of the Kingdom’s charitable sector. The move is designed to further connect donors with beneficiaries through a more robust and autonomous governance structure.

Since its inception in 2021 under a Royal Directive, Ehsan has operated under the supervision of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). The platform was originally created as part of the Kingdom's broader digital transformation strategy, aimed at ensuring that donations in fields such as healthcare, housing, education, and food security reach eligible recipients with high transparency and accountability. The transition to an independent foundation is intended to build upon this foundation of digital empowerment.

The new foundation will maintain its role in facilitating donations from both individuals and private sector entities. By operating as an independent non-profit, the organization is expected to improve coordination between government agencies and private stakeholders, fostering a more collaborative environment for social development. This restructuring aligns with Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to modernize its non-profit sector as part of the national development goals.
