Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan discuss expanding healthcare cooperation

According to the Saudi Gazette, Saudi Minister of Health Fahad AlJalajel conducted an official visit to Tashkent on Monday to meet with Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev. The high-level discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties and identifying new avenues for cooperation between the two nations within the healthcare and investment sectors.

The meeting, which included Uzbekistan's Minister of Health Eldor Adilov and Deputy Minister Ilhomjon Umurzakov, covered a broad agenda. Key topics of discussion included the development of healthcare systems, digital transformation initiatives, and the advancement of medical and pharmaceutical industries. Both delegations emphasized the importance of workforce development and specialized investment to support sustainable development goals in both countries.

In addition to broader policy discussions, the officials reviewed the current progress of the Fergana Hospital project. The project, which involves collaboration with the Saudi Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, serves as a focal point for the ongoing health sector partnership. This visit underscores the growing diplomatic and economic engagement between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan as they seek to align their shared interests in regional health infrastructure.
