Saudi Commerce Ministry recalls 27,360 Chevrolet vehicles over airbag defect

Saudi Commerce Ministry recalls 27,360 Chevrolet vehicles over airbag defect

The Saudi Ministry of Commerce has announced a recall of 27,360 Chevrolet vehicles due to a safety defect involving the driver-side airbag inflator. According to the Ministry, the defect poses a significant risk to vehicle occupants, as the inflator may eject sharp metal fragments in the event of an accident, potentially leading to serious injury or fatality.

The recall encompasses several popular models, specifically the Trax, Cruze, and Aveo. Affected vehicles include the Trax model years 2010–2017, the Cruze model years 2012–2018, and the Aveo model years 2010–2017. These models are subject to the safety campaign as part of ongoing efforts to ensure road safety and address manufacturing vulnerabilities.

Vehicle owners are strongly encouraged to verify if their specific vehicle is included in the recall by checking their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) through the official portal at Recalls.sa. The Ministry has directed owners to contact General Motors, Aljomaih Automotive Company, or Universal Motors Agencies to arrange for the necessary repairs. These repairs are to be carried out free of charge to the vehicle owners.
