Saudi Passenger Held at India's Delhi Airport for Smuggling Gold Hidden in Electric Scooter Tyres

According to the Arab Times Kuwait, customs officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi have intercepted a passenger arriving from Saudi Arabia for attempting to smuggle gold. Authorities reportedly seized 869.5 grams of 24-carat gold, which had been concealed within the tyres of an electric scooter transported as luggage.

The incident highlights ongoing efforts by Indian customs authorities to curb the illicit transport of precious metals into the country. Smuggling attempts often involve creative concealment methods, such as hiding contraband within electronic goods or personal appliances, to evade detection by X-ray scanners and manual inspections.

Following the discovery, the passenger was detained for further questioning and processing in accordance with Indian customs regulations. The seized gold has been impounded as evidence.
