This figure represents a slight decline from the SR16.31 billion recorded during the previous week. The data provides a snapshot of consumer spending habits across various sectors in the Saudi economy.
Consumer expenditure was primarily driven by the food and beverage sector, which accounted for SR2.28 billion across 58.41 million individual transactions. The restaurants and cafes sector followed closely, recording SR1.9 billion in spending through 61.23 million transactions. Other significant contributors to the weekly total included the clothing and accessories sector, which saw SR1.26 billion in sales, and the transportation sector, which recorded SR1.09 billion.
Overall, the volume of POS activity saw a decrease of approximately 5.1 percent, with the total number of transactions falling to 253.42 million compared to 267.11 million in the preceding week. These figures are part of SAMA’s ongoing monitoring of digital payment trends and consumer behavior within the Saudi market, reflecting broader shifts in retail activity and economic engagement across the country.
