According to Vartha Bharati, Congress leader Dr. Bhimasenrao Shinde has expressed confidence that the Aurad taluk will be officially declared a drought-hit region by the Karnataka government before September 30. The announcement follows concerns raised by local farmers regarding inadequate rainfall during the current season, which has severely impacted agricultural activities in the area.

Dr. Shinde stated that he has been in continuous communication with state authorities to address the grievances of the farming community. He confirmed that he has submitted formal requests to Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara, urging them to expedite the drought declaration process. Furthermore, he held discussions with Revenue Department Secretary Manoj Kumar Meena to detail the extent of the rainfall deficit and the resulting hardships faced by local cultivators.

The process for declaring drought-affected areas is currently underway at the government level. Dr. Shinde has assured the residents of Aurad that the administration is actively reviewing the situation and that relief measures are expected to follow the official designation of the taluk as drought-hit by the end of the month.
