Assam Floods: Death Toll Rises to 108, 7 Districts Remain Affected

According to the latest data released by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the death toll from the ongoing floods in the state has reached 108. The disaster has continued to impact infrastructure and livelihoods across several districts, with authorities monitoring the situation closely as water levels remain a concern.

As of the most recent update, seven districts remain under the influence of floodwaters, including Goalpara, Sivasagar, Biswanath, Nagaon, Morigaon, West Karbi Anglong, and Cachar. The ASDMA reports that approximately 25,083 people have been affected across 155 villages. To support those displaced by the rising waters, 13 relief camps have been established to provide shelter and essential services to the affected population.

The agricultural sector has also faced significant disruption, with over 6,400 hectares of crop area reported as damaged. Furthermore, water levels in several key rivers have surpassed the danger mark, prompting local authorities to maintain high alert levels in vulnerable areas. Disaster management teams continue to coordinate relief efforts to mitigate the impact on the affected communities.
